In celebration of the 800th anniversary of the document at the historic heart of English and American Constitutional Law, Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015, a national traveling exhibit, was curated by the Law Library of Congress and produced by the American Bar Association.

Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015 was brought to the State of Missouri by the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation and hosted by Missouri State University at the Duane G. Meyer Library.  The exhibit was on display from October 10 to 23, 2015, but the community wide Magna Carta Project was launched months earlier, in conjunction with Law Day.

The Springfield Bar and its community partners, including the Moxie Cinema, Springfield Greene County Libraries, Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield Art Museum hosted a total of twenty-four Magna Carta related events, which were attended by 1223 individuals in seven local venues. Add to that 2,256 who toured the exhibit plus our Magna Carta poster, essay and social media contest participants and over 4,000 people were directly touched by this community collaboration.  The project received the 2016 NABE Lexis Nexis Community and Educational Outreach Award.

Thank you to community partners Missouri State University, Springfield Greene County Libraries, Moxie Cinema, Springfield Art Museum, Springfield Public Schools and exhibit underwriters The Law Firm of Neale & Newman, LLPStrong-Garner-Bauer, PCKent and Jan HydeLee and Julie ViorelLathrop & Gage, LLP and Mark L.
