Legal Counsel for Juvenile Status and Delinquency Cases in the 38th Judicial Circuit
Purpose of Position:
This part-time position will provide representation to juveniles in all status and delinquency cases in the Christian County Juvenile Office, except for those cases in which Attorney has a conflict of interest. The representation will include review of relevant documentation, meeting with the client in person or otherwise, preparation of any necessary documentation, and preparation for and attendance at hearings. Hearings are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Juvenile Court Judge and the Presiding Judge.
This is a part-time contract position with no benefits. Attorney will not be an employee of Christian County. Annual salary is $11,000.00 payable in equal monthly amounts. The position will be effective January 1, 2019.
A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law and a license in good standing to practice law in the State of Missouri is required. Experience in the areas of juvenile and family law is required, as well as knowledge of Missouri statutes, in particular the Juvenile Code, and Supreme Court Rules, in particular rules of civil and criminal procedure, and practice and procedure in Christian County Juvenile Court. The position requires average computer skills in data entry, word processing, and modification of standardized forms as necessary. The applicant must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and must meet the minimum age requirement of 21 years.
