3 Ways "Track This Case" Can Help You
Wednesday, December 21, 2016
Earlier this week the Missouri Supreme Court announced that the previously piloted "Track This Case" enhancement to Casenet. Southern District Court of Appeals Judge Gary Lynch is chairman of the Missouri Court Automation Committee and an active member of the SMBA. Judge Lynch would appreciate feedback on how SMBA members are using this feature to save time and improve service to their clients. He offers these suggestions for your consideration:
- The attorney or an attorney staff member tracks a case in which the attorney is not an attorney of record, but which has an ancillary impact upon either a party the attorney represents or a case the attorney is handling. An example would be a pending criminal case against the husband where the attorney represents the wife in a dissolution case.
- Encouraging criminal clients to track their own case to receive advance email notices of upcoming court hearings or payment plan due dates in order to assist clients in complying with court ordered appearances and payments.
- Reducing attorney and staff time responding to calls or other client contacts merely for updates on the client's court case, by encouraging clients to track their own case and receive email notifications of docket entries made on their case.
