Run Off Election Open for Judicial Commission

Members of The Missouri Bar in good standing residing within Greene County,
are eligible to vote for one of their number to serve as an elected member
of the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission.THE RUN-OFF electronic voting will
begin on Thursday, November 16th and will end on December 8th, 2017. The
term is for six years to commence January 1, 2018. You are encouraged to
vote prior to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8th, 2017. Please note that the
OSCA Help Desk and the Clerk's Office will both close at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Should you encounter any technical difficulties in voting after 5 p.m. on
December 8th, there will be no technical support available, either by
telephone or e-mail, until after the election.
You may vote electronically at www.courts.mo.gov/election/ajc.nsf. The link
to this address is at the bottom of this message. You will enter your
Missouri Bar number and Pin number found on the lower right hand corner of
your 2017 Missouri Bar card and then follow the instructions for voting.
If you receive a prompt concerning an invalid bar number or Pin
number/password, or if you have misplaced or lost your Bar card, you should
request the PIN/number/password from the Missouri Bar website at
www.mobar.org. Click on Members Only and then click on "Forgotten or Lost
Password". You may also call the Missouri Bar at 573-635-4128. The Pin you
had on record with the MOBAR on November 9th, 2017 is the PIN you will need
to use for purpose of voting in this election.
You are eligible to vote in the Circuit 31 Judicial Commission electronic
election based upon your being a member of the Missouri Bar in either good
standing or in inactive status and being registered with the Missouri Bar
as residing in Circuit 31. Attorneys may be eligible to vote in multiple
Judicial Commission elections. If attorneys are eligible to vote in
multiple elections, they will receive separate emails, including details
pertaining to the election, for each Judicial Commission election in which
they are eligible to vote.

button labeled Enter Circuit 31 Election to proceed onto the Circuit 31

1. David W. Ransin

BIO: David W. Ransin founded his firm Ransin Injury Law 27 years ago as a
solo attorney in Springfield, Missouri. David received his law degree from
the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1982. His expertise has been gained
from many jury trials and appeals, including representing clients in six
cases before the Supreme Court of Missouri. He was appointed by the
Missouri Supreme Court to serve on the Committee to Rewrite Rule 2
regarding judicial ethics, in addition to several terms as an OCDC Hearing
Officer, and is currently serving as the Chair of the Missouri Bar’s
Specialty Division. Among his many professional accomplishments, David has
been recognized by his peers as the Best Solo Practitioner in Missouri in
2007 and 2008, as a Top Attorney in Missouri & Kansas for many years, and
was honored with the Solo and Small Firm Committee Distinguished Service
Award for his several decades-long support of those in small firm and solo
law practice. In addition to being invited to present legal seminars
locally, statewide, and nationwide, David is an active member of the
Missouri Bar, Solo and Small Firm Committee, The American Association for
Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and several civic and
community organizations. David has always been a strong supporter of the
Missouri Plan and worked to help bring it to Greene County. He wishes to
give back to our profession by working with all the members of the judicial
commission to ensure the continued selection of the best judges possible in
order to maintain the independence of the judiciary and neutrality from
political or other outside influences as best as possible. Away from work,
David enjoys spending time with his wife and two adult children traveling
and doing anything outdoors, particularly working and relaxing at his farm,
golfing, canoeing, flyfishing, sailing, mountain biking, hiking, and back
packing.
2. Laurel Stevenson

BIO: Laurel Stevenson is a partner with Haden Cowherd & Bullock, LLC, and
is the founding member of the firm’s Strategic Collaboration Group. She
attended Drury University and received her law degree from the University
of Missouri-Columbia. She practiced in Iowa and Wisconsin for seven years,
including as in-house counsel for an international as well as a national
company, and worked for the Wisconsin legislature. She has been engaged in
private practice for more than 20 years, and practices throughout the
state. In addition to being admitted to practice in Missouri, she is
admitted to practice in Arkansas, Iowa and Wisconsin. Her areas of practice
include transportation, insurance, appeals, commercial litigation, products
liability and professional liability. She also serves as a mediator and
arbitrator. Laurel was previously on the board of the Springfield
Metropolitan Bar Association, and was the President of the Drury Alumni
Association. Laurel has been an instructor of trial practice for a national
organization representing the transportation industry. She is currently a
Facilitator for the Missouri Fee Dispute Resolution Program, and previously
served as a Facilitator for the Missouri Complaint Resolution Program. She
is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Laurel is the Chair of the
Executive Leadership Team for the Southwest Chapter of the American Heart
Association. She regularly provides pro bono services to individuals and
small businesses. She is also a volunteer for Laura’s Home and Drury
University. She received the award for Excellence in Student Engagement
from Drury in 2013. In 2017, she was a recipient of the Women’s Justice
Litigation Practitioner Award. Laurel resides in Springfield with her
husband of nearly 24 years, and has a son in college and a daughter in high
school. She enjoys reading, writing, floral design and cooking.
