31st Circuit Judicial Commission Election

Qualified attorneys  have until Wednesday, October 2nd at 5:00 pm to submit a nominating petition in accordance with Missouri Supreme Court Rule 10.1 to have their name on the ballot for one of the Attorney positions on the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission.

The election will be to replace Steven B. Garner, whose term on the 31st Judicial Commission expires on December 31st, 2019.  According to Greene County Circuit Clerk Tom Barr, attorneys will vote electronically in accordance with Missouri Supreme Court Rule 10.165. Voting will begin on Friday, October 11th and the ballots will be counted November 2, 2019.

Nominating petitions may be sent to Greene County Circuit Clerk Tom Barr via e-mail: tom.barr@courts.mo.gov or by mail addressed to the Circuit Clerk at 1010 Boonville Avenue, Springfield, Missouri 65802. 

10.11. Nominations - Petitions

A proposed nominee may have his name printed on the ballot by mailing or
delivering a nominating petition to the clerk in whose office the election
is to be held, provided that said petition must be received by the clerk
not later than thirty days before the election. In the case of a member of
The Appellate Judicial Commission to be elected from a court of appeals
district such petition must be signed by not less than twenty members of
the Bar in good standing residing in such district, at least ten of whom do
not reside in the same judicial circuit as the proposed nominee. In the
case of a member to be elected to a circuit judicial commission, such
petition must be signed by not less than twenty members of the Bar in good
standing residing in such circuit if the circuit contains, according to the
last decennial census of the United States, 400,000 or more inhabitants,
and by not less than ten if the circuit contains fewer than 400,000 such
inhabitants. If any member of the Bar shall have signed a petition for a
proposed nominee for a particular office and term and such petition shall
have been received by the clerk as above provided, his signature on any
petition for another proposed nominee for the same office and term shall
not be counted, unless the first proposed nominee shall have died, become
disqualified or given written notice to the clerk of his withdrawal as a
proposed nominee. Rule 10.11 shall not apply to run-off elections.
