Neil Chanter Running for Appellate Judicial Commission
Friday, October 4, 2019
Neil Chanter was raised in the U.K. and was awarded his Bachelor of Laws degree, with honors, from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff in 1995. He was with Clarke, Willmott Solicitors before emigrating to the U.S. in 1996 (to be with his now wife, Christina and ultimately, their two daughters, Emme and Lotte).
Having re-qualified in the US, Neil joined Strong-Garner-Bauer, P.C. in Springfield in 1998 – 21 years ago, where he has been a shareholder since 2003. Neil is an active member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association (where he served a full/three-year term on their Board of Directors and currently serves on their Foundation Board), the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (where he has served on their Board of Governors since 2003), the American Association for Justice, and the Missouri Bar.
Neil has been recognized in: Best Lawyers of America since 2011 (for personal-injury, medical-malpractice, and product-liability); Super Lawyers since 2010; and was named Lawyer of the Year, Medical-Malpractice (2014, 2020), and Product-Liability (2016) for Springfield, Missouri by Best Lawyers of America.
In addition to his law practice (and his continued service to the SMBA/MATA), Neil and his wife/family have been local, small-business owners in Springfield, MO for over 10 years. In 2017, he also founded the “Community Bike Shop at the Fairbanks”, (an organization intended to help adults and children in Springfield’s Grant Beach neighborhood).
With this diverse background, Neil intends to bring a broad cross-section of perspectives to the Appellate Judicial Commission, where his singular focus will be to ensure the continued submission of outstanding candidates to the Governor, regardless of political or practice affiliation. He truly believes the Appellate Commission is the best-known mechanism of selecting judges and pledges to continue the exemplary work the Commission has performed since its inception in 1940.
