Kristoffer Barefield Running for 31st Circuit Judicial Commission
Friday, October 4, 2019
I have practiced law in Springfield for 16 years working at several prominent firms including Lathrop & Gage, Baird Lightner Millsap & Harpool, and Mann Walter Bishop & Sherman. Since 2014, I have operated my own small firm, the Law Offices of Kristoffer Barefield, LLC where I specialize in Child Welfare, Adoptions and Family Law. I am also honored to serve as the Municipal Judge for the cities of Willard, Walnut Grove and Marionville.
In my practice, I am in a courtroom almost every day. In the past year alone I have tried cases in the Associate and Circuit Divisions of 17 counties across southwest Missouri and appeared before dozens of Judges. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between. I want to serve as your representative on the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission because I believe strongly in the Non-Partisan Court Plan and I want to help continue our Greene County tradition of selecting the very best candidates for judicial vacancies.
I was born in Springfield and have spent the majority of my life here. I graduated from Hillcrest High School and obtained my Bachelors in Business Administration from Evangel University. I received my Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the Claude Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University.
Outside of the courtroom, I am proud to be a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and to serve on its Bench & Bar Committee. I am also proud to serve on the Southwest Missouri Advisory Council for FosterAdopt Connect, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of children in foster care and the families that care for them. Additionally, I am a member of the Board of Directors for AIDS Project of the Ozarks, one of the nation’s premier HIV/AIDS regional treatment centers.
