Friday August 5, 2022 - Today 31st Circuit Judge Jason Brown notified the Honorable Paul Wilson, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri that he will not seek retention. Brown's term ends December 31, 2022. In his letter to Chief Justice Wilson, Judge Brown asked that the selection process be initiated so his successor can take the bench in early January. SMBA President Nate Dunville said “We are fortunate Judge Brown served our community for nearly two decades. His engagement and candor make it a true pleasure to appear in his courtroom. Simply put, he is an excellent judge.” Brown was appointed Associate Circuit Judge in 2005 and Circuit Judge in 2015. Before that he practiced law in Kansas City and Springfield for sixteen years. SMBA Executive Director Crista Hogan said “Even before he ascended to the bench, Judge Brown was involved in the community and supportive of the profession. It is unique and commendable that he has maintained that connection throughout his career.” Brown plans to remain in the community and practice in the area of alternative dispute resolution.
