Don Busch 90th Birthday Celebration

Don Busch will be celebrating his 90th birthday Sunday, October 2, 2022, with a reception from 2-4:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Busch Municipal Building. Mayor Ken McClure will present Don with a proclamation from the City at 3:00 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. RSVP bborthwick@outlook.com

 

Don was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Chester and Ruth Busch.  He attended Missouri University and graduated with a law degree from the Missouri University School of Law.  Don moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1957 and was hired in 1959 as an Assistant City Attorney and Prosecutor for the City of Springfield.  He was appointed Springfield’s City Manager in 1971. As City Manager, Don worked closely with John Q. Hammons on strategic growth and economic plans for the future of Springfield.  He worked with City Council to pass the first ¼ cent sales tax and the capital improvement sales tax.  Don served as City Manager until January 1990 when he entered private law practice with Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell and Brown, practicing in the areas of local government law, land development, real estate and condemnation law. He retired from law practice in 2008.

 

Don is a retired member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and the Missouri Bar.
