New Presiding Judge Elected in 31st

The 31st Circuit Court en Banc met yesterday to hold an election for the position of presiding judge.  Judge Jerry Harmison was elected to serve the remainder of the current unexpired term and through a full term thereafter.  His term starts tomorrow, March 24, 2023.  Judge Harmison had this to say “I am humbled and excited to be the Presiding Judge of the 31st Circuit. We have a great group of judges, new and experienced, that will provide support. With the appointment of many new judges recently, we have an opportunity to work together to make the 31st Circuit even better.”

Presiding Judge Michael Cordonnier has served as presiding judge of the 31st for seven years, including the unprecedented adaptations required by the court during the COVID-19 lock downs and distancing requirements.  Judge Cordonnier was recognized by the SMBA for these efforts with the 2021 SMBA President's Award.  He also receive the SMBA's highest honor, the 2022 Distinguished Attorney Award for his work as presiding judge as well as his entire, noteworthy career.
