2023 Tour de Courts Launches

The first stop for the  SMBA Tour de Courts program was Monday March 27 at the Greene County Judicial Courts Facility.  Fifteen new lawyers were joined by SMBA President Jarica Oeltjen, President Elect Debbie Dodge and Tour de Courts Chair Kate Millington.  The tour guide was Judge Jerry Harmison, on his first official day as Presiding Judge of the 31^st Circuit. 

The tour started with participants introducing themselves and sharing their broad swath of hobbies which included trail running, kayaking, embroidery, refinishing furniture, French pastry, parenting, cooking, baking, guitar, fly fishing, reading, travel, collecting old books, language, running and flying.

Judge Harmison pointed out the various offices and courts on each floor, concluding with informal tips from the bench and Q and A in his courtroom.  It was a great start to the program which in the next few months will include the Federal Courthouse, the Missouri Court of Appeals Southern District and the Christian County Courthouse, interspersed with other activities for new members of the bar.
