Game Six – Championship Bracket

May 2, 7:00 pm, Mother’s Brewing Company Back Yard

Kutak et al McGlovens v Carnahan Evans Court Jesters

The McGlovens were first at bat and fielding by Andy Peebles and David Olive made short work of the top of the first.  In the bottom of the first Peebles and Olive both hit triples for the Court Jesters – but the highlight/lowlight of the inning was a controversial and arguably incorrect hit-by-pitch call of the Umpire.

McGlovens 0, Court Jesters 3

In the top of the second Victoria Faulker hit a double for the McGlovens followed by a Taylor White Triple. Derek Lee hit a double and the McGlovens ended their at bat with two runs on the board.  Highlights of the bottom of the second were a triple-into-the-landscaping by Christian Horton, a triple by Olive and a single by Courtney Fletcher.  Honorable mention to Chip Sheppard’s pop fly, expertly caught by White.

McGlovens 2, Court Jesters 5

Highlights of the top of the third included a single by Faulker and a triple by Lee. The bottom of the third had no highlights with three fast outs.

McGlovens 3, Court Jesters 5

The top of the fourth saw some epic batting by the McGlovens.  Reid and Lee both hit triples but the McHero of the inning was the triple triples hit by White in his three at bats.  In the bottom of the fourth the Jesters courted two strike outs and a valiant hit by Fletcher, fielded by Faulkner.

McGlovens 10, Court Jesters 5

The top of the fifth was a fast and unfruitful at bat for the McGlovens with some outstanding fielding by Carnahan Evans determined to shut down the previous inning’s batting spree – no jesting. The McGlovens were still hitting the ball – but between Peebles’ and Sheppard’s agility in the outfield they were unable to score.  In the bottom of the fifth the Jesters gave a gallant effort with a triple by Horton and doubles by Alex Henson and Olive and scoring 2 more runs, but in the end they were unable to catch up, but narrowing the spread in the exciting game to only 3 points.

Ending score McGlovens 10, Court Jesters 7
