Semi-Finals Consolation Bracket Game Seven – May 9, 6:00 pm, Mother’s Brewing Company Back Yard Plain Error (Spencer Fane) v Appealables (31st Circuit Judges) Top of the first with Plain Error at bat and Judge Harmison pitching – three outs in rapid fire succession. In the bottom of the fourth new judges Greenwade and Christensen showed their appeal with Greenwade hitting a single and a double and Christensen hitting two triples. Plain Error 0, Appealables 4 The second inning was fairly unremarkable for both teams highlighted primarily by a mighty triple by Chris Weiss in the top of the inning and a hit by Greenwade and some gymnastic fielding by Ben Shantz. Plain Error 0, Appealables 4 In the top of the third Plain Error managed to get on the board. Harmison was pitching and fielded two outs but not before two triples (Shantz and Weiss) and a double (Weiss). In fact, in the third inning Weiss demonstrated his skill as the wiffle ball equivalent of a five-tool player. Pitching in the bottom of the third, he struck out Greenwade and fielded two more outs in short order. The third inning ended the scoring for the game and pretty much the excitement. The fourth and fifth innings were a bunch of outs and a couple singles. The semi-final match in the consolation bracket ended with the judges team advancing to the finals. Plain Error 2, Appealables 4 Semi-Finals Championship Bracket Game Eight – May 9, 7:00 pm, Mother’s Brewing Company Back Yard Hall Ansley Sluggers v Husch The semi-final game in the championship bracket was not very fun for a number of reasons, including inclement weather, lots of strike outs, very few hits, only one run and a pitching controversy. Shout out to the ladies – team captain Debbie Dodge joined her team, risking a fresh pedicure in the process. Shelly Rosefelder helped out her former firm Husch’s team with some solid hitting and fielding. Sluggers 1, Husch 0
