The first game of the evening matched two teams usually on the same side - the Crusaders (public defenders) playing Let Freedom Swing (Twibell Pierson). The first inning was a little too professionally courteous with no runs scored - maybe the slow start was because Scott Pierson was still wearing his courthouse clothes – but things got a whole lot more exciting in the top of the second with Bryan Delleville hitting a home run and Jason Johnson hitting two. Let Freedom was not just swinging, they were hitting it out of the park. Despite some acrobatic and valiant fielding by Blake Burchard and Luke Dainty respectively, the boys of Let Freedom Swing were unstoppable. Crusaders 0 Let Freedom Swing 10 June 18, 2024 6:15 – DOJ Turkeys v RMS (Rooney McBride and Smith) DOJ Turkeys Batting Order - Dane Puckett
- Randy Eggert
- Stephanie Wan
- Casey Clark[ii]
RMS Batting Order - Austin Williamson
- Jacob Uhler
- Solon McGee
- Ben McBride
- Andy Scholz

- Dyana Beshay
Top of the first - Austin Williamson with a grand slam home run sets the tone for an action-packed game. Turkeys’ Casey Clark temporarily put an end to the RMS scoring spree with a daring diving catch. In their first at bat Stephanie Wan was the only Turkey with an RBI ending the first inning with RMS 5, Turkeys 1. In the third inning RMS pulled further ahead despite some impressive fielding by Casey Clark and Dane Puckett. The Turkeys rallied in the bottom of the fourth powered by Randy Eggert’s home run but RMS had widened the gap with both Austin Williamson and Solon McGee hitting homers. RMS moves to the finals. RMS 14 DOJ 6 June 18, 2024 7:00 –BARbarians[iii] (Lowther Johnson) v. McGlovens (Kutak) BARbarians Batting Order - Kenny Beck
- Kyle Harmon
- McKinley Groves
- Kevin Scharf
- Jacob Haskins
McGlovens Batting Order - Joseph Reid
- Taylor White
- Brian Moody
- Dean Kirk
After two boring innings the fan base was restless. Their jeering was rewarded by the McGlovens in the third. Taylor White and Joseph Reid got on base and Brian Moody’s triple hit them in and the momentum continued. By the bottom of the fifth the score was McGlovens 9 BARbarians 2 and McKinley Groves, with the play of the inning, did his best to catch up with a bases loaded triple – exciting but not enough– the McGlovens and their entourage of supporters advance to the finals. BARbarians 5 McGlovens 9 June 18, 2024 7:45 Dragonslayers (Prosecutors) v Court Jesters (Carnahan Evans) Dragonslayers Batting Order - Christian Musgrave
- Kaylee Comer
- Zachary McFarland
- Hannah Lucas
- Chris Lebeck
- Katelynn Frazier
- Joshua Harrel
Court Jesters Batting Order - Andy Peebles
- Jay Preston
- David Olive
- Christian Horton
By the final game of the evening the temperature was cooling but the Court Jesters started heating things up in the second inning with a hitting streak of triples by Olive, Horton and Peebles. Not to be outdone, the lady Dragons slayed with solid hits by Hannah Lucas and Kaylee Comer but the star of the bar (and bat) was Katelynn Frazier who dazzled the crowd with an over the fence hit bringing 2 of her teammates home with her and evening the score. The Jesters fired back with six runs and won and exciting game. Court Jesters 11 Dragonslayers 6
[i] Prior to the SMBA Wiffleball season Crusaders Pitcher Quentin Michel had never played baseball, wiffleball, t-ball, etc. Very impressive and inspiring performance. [ii] Safety conscious pitcher, much appreciated. [iii] In a field of fantastic team names this one is the best of the season.
