Position is Part-time

 

Basic Functions and Responsibilities:
This is highly responsible work providing legal counsel in service to the children under the Court’s jurisdiction on matters in the Juvenile Courts of Taney County, Missouri. The Guardian ad Litem shall follow and remain in compliance with the Guardian ad Litem Standards for Missouri. The Guardian ad Litem shall provide factual information to the Court and advocate a position in the best interests of the children he/she serves and include preparation, attendance and making recommendations at hearings. The Guardian ad Litem shall be prepared to participate fully in any proceedings, attend Family Support Team Meetings, meet with the child(ren), the Juvenile Office, Missouri Children’s Division, and other social service agencies as warranted. The Guardian ad Litem shall participate in the development and implementation of case strategies and work cooperatively with involved agencies to implement a plan that will further the child’s best interests. The Guardian ad Litem must exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues before the Court. Working relationships must be established with judges, the Missouri Children’s Division and other social service agencies, the Juvenile Office, and attorneys. Work involves contact with people in stressful situations and with sensitive and confidential information.

The Guardian ad Litem shall be expected to practice the Missouri Standards for Guardian ad Litem.

Must be a lawyer licensed by the Supreme Court of Missouri, in good standing.  Must have completed Guardian Ad Litem training.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Presiding Judge of the 46th Judicial Circuit.
