To: Mock Trial Teachers, Sponsors and Coaches From: Crista Hogan, Regional Coordinator Date: March 7, 2025 Re: Ozarks Regional High School Mock Trial Competition Cc: SMBA volunteers, Danny Barnett-Foster First - Thank You! Thank you to the teachers, coaches and most of all, the participants. The judges, evaluators and Springfield bar volunteers were inspired and impressed. Please tell them to keep up the great work! We were excited to see some previous participants as well as new faces. We hope this was a fun and inspiring educational opportunity for them and we hope you will keep coming back. The winning teams are determined in a tiered scoring structure: Wins, ballots, point differential, total points.
If you will notice below, some of the scores were extremely close. These are the closest I have seen in the Ozarks’ Region competition and every single team won at least one ballot!!!
Based on final registration numbers we can send two teams to state this year. Sycamore Home School took first and second place so will be sending one team and new team Monett took third. Good luck to Sycamore and Monett who will be the two teams representing our region at the state competition in Independence March 28-30. If any team is unable to compete at state, please let us know as soon as possible so that the next ranked team can advance. Finally, please help spread the word. When registration opens next year encourage your students to participate and reach out to colleagues at other schools to help us build the Ozarks Regional Mock Trial Competition and send even more teams to state. _____________________________________________ The Ozarks’ Regional High School Mock Trial Competition is presented by the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation with grant funding from the Missouri Lawyer Trust Account Foundation. |
