Journey Through the Justice System On July 4th, 1990, 18-year-old Stacey Lannert shot and killed her father, who had been sexually abusing her since she was eight. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole. On January 10, 2009, former Gov. Matt Blunt granted Stacey clemency and she was released from prison six days later. Today, Stacey is an advocate and double clemency recipient who is able to connect the cause of justice with her own story. Stacey’s voice for advocacy is amplified by her background and personal experience with the criminal legal field.
