Joel K. Goldstein, the Vincent C. Immel Professor of Constitutional Law at Saint Louis University School of Law, has written widely regarding constitutional law, the presidency and vice presidency. He is best known for his books and articles on the vice presidency including The Modern American Vice Presidency: The Transformation of a Political Institution (1982) and The White House Vice Presidency: The Path to Significance, Mondale to Biden (2016) and is frequently interviewed on the topic by national media. He is the co-author of Understanding Constitutional Law and of a casebook, Constitutional Law, and has written scholarly articles dealing with aspects of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Supreme Court and its justices, and Supreme Court confirmation.

Goldstein received a doctorate in politics at Oxford University which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He was the law clerk to Hon. W. Arthur Garrity, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and practiced law at Goldstein and Price in St. Louis before joining the Saint Louis University School of Law faculty where he has taught Constitutional law courses and seminars as well as Admiralty, Contracts and Federal Courts.
