Speaker: Valerie Dixon, McAfee & Taft

Valerie Dixon is a trial lawyer whose state and federal trial practice encompasses the areas of product liability defense, insurance defense, medical malpractice, and general civil litigation. Her primary focus is discovery, serving as part of the national discovery team for product liability cases for Ford Motor Company, including several complex class actions. She has also been part of the trial team for several asbestos cases.  She is a Missouri native and a three-time graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia. She graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in marketing, in 2008 before going on to earn her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 2010 and her Juris Doctor in 2013. While in law school, she served as an editor of the Journal of Dispute Resolution and had two journal articles published. She also served as vice magister of Tiedeman Inn, the University’s chapter of the Phi Delta Phi honor society.  Upon graduation from the University of Missouri School of Law, she joined the law firm of Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer & Patton, PC, where she worked for four years prior to joining McAfee & Taft.

Valerie will be presenting on Motions in Limine, a key tool in the arsenal of a trial lawyer.  She will provide an overview of how to effectively use motions in limine in your case and will provide drafting tips for practical application.  She will also provide guidance regarding possible motions to consider when you are preparing for your next trial.
