Speaker: Eric Jennings, The Missouri Bar
Please join us for this review of highlights from the 2018 Regular Session of the Missouri General Assembly. Eric Jennings will cover:
- What bills of interest to the legal profession were discussed?
- What failed, what passed, what will be back next year?
- What did the governor veto?
- What impact will the 2018 election have on the 2019 session?
- What legislative trends can we expect in 2019?
Eric Jennings currently serves as Government Relations Counsel for The Missouri Bar. As co-counsel, he
represents The Missouri Bar before the General Assembly and the executive branch, advancing
legislation drafted by committees of The Missouri Bar and communicating its positions for or against
proposed legislation to elected officials. He earned his law degree in 2005 from the University of
Missouri School of Law and holds a bachelor of arts degree in history from Truman State University. He
is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Federalist
Society.
Prior to joining The Missouri Bar staff in 2015, Mr. Jennings worked for nine years in the Missouri
General Assembly, including five years as chief of staff to Senator Bob Dixon of Springfield, chair of the
Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. He was selected among Missouri Lawyer
Weekly’s “Influential Lawyers” in 2015 for his involvement in the enactment of Missouri’s Revised
Criminal Code, the first comprehensive revision of the code since the late 1970s. In 2014, the Missouri
Association of Prosecuting Attorneys also recognized his involvement in the revision effort with a
Prosecutors’ Service Award. In 2013, he was presented with a President’s Award by the Springfield
Metropolitan Bar Association in recognition of contributions to the administration of justice in Greene
County.
