2023 Teams, Schedule and Rules

Games will take place at Mother's Brewery Backyard!

All games will start promptly at designated time. Game rosters in batting order must be provided to chogan@springfieldbar.com by noon game day.

Schedule

Round One

Round Two (Consolation Bracket will play at 6:00 and Champion Bracket will play at 7:00)

Final Round (Consolation Bracket will play at 6:00 and Championship Game will play at 7:00)

  • May 16, 2023 - 7:00 - Kutak et al McGlovens v Hall Ansley Sluggers

Team composition

  • Teams may have a minimum of three and maximum seven players including captain on their roster.
  • All team members must be members of SMBA. 
  • Firms/ organizations are encouraged to field teams, as well as groups of solo practitioners.

Games

  • Home team determined by coin flip
  • Five innings, both teams bat if tied
  • Three outs per half-inning

Batting, ghost running and scoring

  • Four balls, three strikes per batter 
  • Backdrop is strikezone.
  • No bunting.
  • Field is marked with zones for singles, doubles, triples, home runs and foul lines.  Hits landing between home and pitcher and are singles, between pitcher and first partition are doubles, between first and second partition are triples, past second partition are home runs.

 

Fielding

  • Teams may have a minimum of three and maximum five players on the field  - pitcher plus four fielders even or behind pitcher.
  • The number on the field will be equal – in other words if one team has 3 players the other team will only field three players, rotating in batting order
  • A groundball fielded cleanly (while still moving) and any batted ball caught in the air by a fielder/ pitcher is an out.  If a ground ball stops before fielded it is fair.
